Why is modular data center necessary?
Data center power distribution, cooling, air conditioning, cabinets, environmental control, design and implementation, as well as monitoring and management, have become an important part of continuous IT security. Modular data centers can enhance the overall efficiency from the planning and deployment of the entire data center to the response of IT to business needs, and meet the requirements of IoT POD mobile micro-module data centers. For small enterprises and remote branch sites, modular data centers can reduce the complexity of deployment and operation and maintenance for small enterprises’ and remote branch site data centers, and improve the efficiency of operation and maintenance management.
Key Technologies of Dell EMC Module Data Centers
The Dell EMC modular data center team, based on the individualized needs of users, creates optimized modular data center solutions tailored to specific workloads, availability, and efficiency requirements.
power module
Power Input: For redundant power input, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and battery subsystems (applicable to N, N+1 and 2N high-availability power supply), multiple options are provided. The regulated power directly connected to the IT module can significantly reduce the cost of power modules.
Power output: Typically, the installation is 480V three-phase, 600A input and 230/400V 600A output. It can meet the voltage reduction and distribution requirements of power companies.
IT module
Rack: Custom 54U rack, configured with 15 or 20 units for each IT module, with ample space for multiple power distribution units (PDU) at the back. Each 15-unit module contains 810 rack units (U), and each 20-unit module contains 1080 units (U).
Reacheability: Both single-row and double-row IT modules can provide up to 3 feet of access space on the front and rear. For those modules that can be maintained simultaneously, all key components can be reached without interrupting the operation of the IT and cooling modules.
Networking: Top-of-rack network connection.
Optional features: The IT module features configurable circuit breakers, VESDA smoke detection, and emergency power shutdown, as well as user-defined I/O interfaces. Configuration and deployment services include servers, storage and network layout, installation, wiring, startup and commissioning. Support services include component management, on-site work response, monitoring and proactive IT health checks, as well as site selection and logistics.
Heat dissipation module
Type: You can choose from air-cooling, DX or evaporative cooling separately, or combine it with free air cooling.
Management: The system monitors both internal and external temperatures, and automatically adjusts the cooling method to maintain the temperature while maximizing energy efficiency.
Optional feature: DCS engineers customize the design of power supply and water source, featuring redundancy and maintainability. It is based on industry-standard technologies and does not require specialized training.
